Rotterdam isn’t a city of sweet talkers or pretty pictures. To understand it, one has to experience it in person. So, our call to action “Ga gewoon zelf” (“Just go already”) was the hero of every piece of communication.
We blocked the view on typical Rotterdam highlights, leaving everything to be desired. Two travel influencers kicked off the campaign with a vlog about Rotterdam, but the only influence they had was spreading our campaign message: ga gewoon zelf!
A clever, scalable online campaign with specific assets for 6 types of tourists, nationwide outdoor advertising, and partnerships with local culture builders helped to spread the message.
